Author Michelle Muckley ~ Genre: Suspence/Thriller

Hi, Michelle, welcome and thanks for being here.

Thanks for joining me here for this blog post.  First off, as all indie authors learn to do, let’s talk about me.

As far as my personality goes, I have been well and truly inflicted with the disease of the writer.  By this I mean that since I have been writing virtually fulltime, my personality has undergone a complete transplant.  Before writing as much as I do now I was a scientist.  I was ordered, methodical, kept a daily diary of things to do, and worked closely under the rule of the clock.  Now, I have become disorganised, a complete scatter brain, terrible at planning, and as for the diary, well, better just not to ask.

I live in Cyprus in the heart of the Mediterranean, and have been here now for two years.  It’s a beautiful island, and I can usually be found, depending on the season, at the beach or in the mountains.  I love to go running along the coast when the sun is shining, but more times than not my daily routine just gets in the way.  My fiancée and I run a cardiology practice, and this is where I write from.  Usually the mornings I am alone at the clinic, and this is perfect for writing.  It gives me six hours to write, and then in the afternoon our time is taken up with seeing patients.   Leaving at 8pm from there doesn’t leave much time for anything else, so the running is sporadic, and also on a steady decline.

When I am not at the beach or the mountains I am probably in a cafe with a coffee.  Coffee is almost the new religion in Cyprus, and I am nearly a fully converted member of the parish.  But coffee lover or not, nothing gets written without a good cup of tea, a dash of milk, and a very generous spoon of sugar.

I have been writing now for about six years.  When I started the first novel, I just decided I had to try, without any pressure to finish.  Then, as it became clear that I would have a whole book, I decided it would be just for me.  Then when the book was actually finished I knew I had to try to publish it.  The more I did, the more I had to do.  When I started doing my covers I was like a fish out of water, not having any clue, and my first cover was poor.  However, you learn, make mistakes, and gradually work it out and make it better.  What I mean by that is that I hired a designer.  I also found a good editor.

My style of writing is reflective and descriptive.  It seems that in some circles this is almost considered a crime.  My plot is always held in check by my wish for you to know the characters before you follow them to the end of their journey.  My work was described as spiritual by one reviewer and I found this really rewarding.  That’s the kind of impression I would only dream of instilling in one of my readers.

So as for being a writer, besides the repetitive strain in my hands and the over intake of caffeine, I wouldn’t change a thing.  To be able to write and create books has been a long term dream.  I have two published books and one on the way.  I haven’t finished the editing yet, but I am already starting to swirl ideas around in my head for the next.  It seems that sometimes you find something that you love that it doesn’t matter where it takes you, or how much of your free time it takes up, it just quietly takes over and you begin to realise that you wouldn’t have it any other way.

Escaping Life

It’s beautiful here. It’s a beautiful place to die.

Since the accident claimed her sister’s life, Haven has been a sanctuary for Elizabeth Green.  She has finally found some of the tranquility that she thought hadbookcover 02 been lost long ago to the past.  Homicide cop Jack Fraser is running away from his miserable life too.  But when the discovery of a body on a local beach leads him directly to Elizabeth’s front door, it seems her past might not have been left behind her after all. Together they must face their demons, and in the process expose the dangerous secrets that cloud their lives before it’s too late.

Running from reality is sometimes more painful than discovering the truth.
